April is a parent of 3 kids, a former teacher, a Belmont resident, a classroom volunteer, and was the Yes on Measure K Co-Chair. April grew up in Massachusetts, and graduated with a B.A. in History from Harvard College. During college, she completed the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program. April has taught high school Social Studies in Los Angeles and in Massachusetts.
April and her husband Alan had their first child Andrew in 2007, and April began staying home to take care of Andrew. April and Alan’s daughter Abigail was born in 2009, followed by their daughter Ava in 2012. As soon as Ava started preschool two mornings a week, April began volunteer teaching. She taught lessons about autism spectrum, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities to elementary students and joined the Board of Directors of Understanding Disabilities, Inc. April has been a Room Parent in Andrew and Abigail’s classes, and was a regular volunteer in Ava’s TK class last year.
As the Co-Chair for the Yes on Measure K campaign, April led a team of committed volunteers advocating for the passage of Measure K on the June 2018 ballot. Measure K was successful, resulting in $1.4 million more annually in revenue for the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District. April serves our schools as Cipriani School Co-Chair for SchoolForce, and as a member of the BRSSD Parcel Tax Oversight Committee.
